Heart of the Hill Cabernet Sauvignon
Estate Grown | Estate Bottled
- Vineyard: 100% Heart of the Hill
- Composition: 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petite Sirah, 5% Carmenère, 2% Merlot
The oldest plantings at Heart of the Hill date back to 2006, making it a relative newcomer to our estate repertoire. Planting a vineyard is cash-intensive, which why we staggard the process, adding 20 acres each season through 2014. Since then, the site developed a powerhouse reputation on Red Mountain, cherished by winemakers and wine critics alike for deep concentration, pure blue and red fruit character, and stout tannin structure.
This second-ever release of Heart of the Hill Cabernet Sauvignon includes small blending additions: Petite Sirah (for color and density), Carmenère (for aromatics and pyrazines), and Merlot (for elegance and florals).
We do not vineyard-designate with reckless abandon. A vineyard-designated wine must achieve two goals:
1. Represent the vineyard in the best possible light.
2. Offer a compelling, distinctive departure from multi-vineyard blends.
This 2019 bottling checks both boxes emphatically; it's a true showcase that deserves to sit atop our portfolio.
